Lake Hefner Lighthouse in Oklahoma City

Hey, friend! Welcome back to another post. Today, I want to show you the lighthouse in Oklahoma City at Lake Hefner. I had been wanting to visit this lighthouse for some time now and was glad I finally made it over there! Let’s get started!

Here’s the text panel at Lake Hefner:

The Lighthouse at East Wharf

“The Lighthouse at East Wharf, constructed in 1999, is a 36-foot working replica of the second oldest light station in America, Brandt Point. The 26-foot Brandt Point lighthouse was built in 1746 near Nantucket, MA. The Lighthouse at East Wharf is a classic example of the coastal beacons that proudly stood watch over a 300-year period of manned light stations. Through technology, light stations are now fully automated and no longer require lighthouse keepers. The Lighthouse at East Wharf is a member of the U.S. Lighthouse Society. The Society was founded to assist in the preservation and restoration of light stations – the symbols of our nation’s maritime heritage.”

It was super windy and cloudy on the day I visited, so I want to go back on a sunny day next time. I would also love to see a sunrise or sunset here – I bet it’s absolutely beautiful.

Happy Traveling – I’ll talk to ya soon! 🙂

Visit

I parked across the street from Louie’s Grill in a parking lot and walked to the light house from there. I can’t find an address for the lighthouse, but the address for Louie’s is below.
