Hey, friend! Welcome back to another post! Today, I want to show you around inside the Oklahoma State capitol building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Let’s get started!
You can watch a video of my visit to the capitol below!

Art in the Capitol
There is art throughout the Oklahoma State capitol. There are so many stunning pieces and I can’t include all of them here, but I did include a handful of my favorites!
These cowboy boots were created by Lisa Sorrel. The detail on these boots is amazing – make sure to scroll through the carousel to see all the aspects of Oklahoma history.

I love this mural in the Oklahoma State Capitol. It depicts four women who changed Oklahoma and US history! The women in the painting include: Shannon Lucid, Opaline Deveraux, Chief Wilma Mankiller, and Senator Maxine Horner. Art by Sara Scribner!

This painting depicts the “Five Moons” who were Native American ballerinas from Oklahoma. They included:
- Rosella Hightower (Choctaw)
- Moscelyne Larkin (Shawnee-Peoria)
- Yvonne Chateau (Shawnee & Cherokee)
- Marjorie Tallchief (Osage)
- Maria Tallchief (Osage)
I was glad to finally go find this statue of Kate Barnard!
Concluding Thoughts
I hope you enjoyed seeing the inside of the Oklahoma State capitol building. This building is so beautiful and these photos hardly do the intricate details justice. I hope you’ll make a trip to go see it yourself.
Happy traveling! I’ll talk to ya soon! 🙂
TRAVEL TIP: There is a museum inside the capitol, but it was closed the day I visited the building. Make sure to check the hours because the photos I’ve seen of the museum are pretty cool! Here are some photos of the case just outside of the doors of the museum.
