Hey, friend! Welcome back to another post. Today, I want to show you around the Tulsa Air and Space Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Let’s get started!

There are several cool planes outside the museum as soon as you pull into the parking lot! But if you think these planes are cool you should wait until I show you just a fraction of what’s inside.

Museum History

The Tulsa Air & Space Museum first opened in May 1998 at the Spartan School of Aeronautic’s campus in a 1940’s hangar. Seven years later the museum expanded moving to its current location inside the Sherman and Ellie Smith Hanger One. There is a lot more room here for the several historic aircraft that call the museum home.

The Tulsa Air & Space Museum also has a planetarium! I didn’t go inside on the day I visited, but read that it can seat over 100 people. The planetarium has been a key museum feature since it opened in 2006.

Photos Inside the Museum

There are so many cool things to see in the Tulsa Air & Space Museum! Check out a few of the photos I took below.

The photos below show various airline outfits and a Rosie the Riveter suit.

The large white facade in the background of this photo is the Tulsa Municipal Terminal. It was donated by the Tulsa World.

There are a lot of aircraft in this museum!

The photos below show the American Airlines Flagship Tulsa.

The photos below show a F-14 Tomcat!

There were several cools pieces on exhibition that relate to space and past missions.

Tuskegee Legacy

As a historian, I was so happy to see this exhibition on the Tuskegee Airmen. This exhibition alone is worth the trip to Tulsa!

Concluding Thoughts

I loved stopping by and seeing this museum while I was in Tulsa. Seeing the different types of planes and space vehicles was so cool! I hope you’ll stop by whenever you’re in Tulsa!

Happy Traveling! I’ll talk to ya soon 🙂

TRAVEL TIP: If you love space and aviation history then you also need to check out my post on the Stafford Air & Space Museum in Weatherford, Oklahoma. These museums are on opposite sides of OKC, but well worth the trip to both if you love this kind of history!
