Hey, Friend! Welcome back to another post. Today, I want to tell you the history of Yukon’s Best Flour Mill. Let’s get started!
History
Yukon’s Best Flour Mill was established in the early-twentieth century and was active operationally through the 1974. The mill helped establish Yukon and its local economy. Oklahoma produces a lot of flour and the mill produced flour using the local crops.

The neon sign, “Yukon’s Best” is also a part of the historic mill. The neon sign contributes to the aesthetic of Route 66 and locals say they know they are home once they see the blinking neon sign.
Carlos Barboza, a local Yukon artist was given the opportunity to create murals on the side of the flour mill. He painted a Czech queen, Miller mascot, Garth Brooks along with other local icons.

Today the mill stands vacant, but the City of Yukon would like to see them utilized in some way. The mill is historic and locals would love to see it converted into a business, offices, or hotel. Time will tell what happens to this beloved historic structure.
