Science Museum Oklahoma: OKC

Hey friend, welcome back to another post! Today, we’re talking about Science Museum Oklahoma (formerly known as the “Omniplex”). Let’s go look around at all the cool science stuff!

*All photos were taken by myself at Science Museum Oklahoma. I didn’t take a lot of photos at this museum because there were a lot of families running around and I wanted to respect their privacy. Just know there are lot more activities and exhibitions at this museum than are pictured below.

Selection of Exhibits & Activities

Missouri Pacific Lines Railroad Car

If you’ve been around my blog for awhile then you know that I love railroad history and seeing old train cars. I distinctly remember seeing this train car in the museum as a child. I knew this was the first thing I wanted to go find! I was glad to see it was still there and looked just like I remember it.

There’s also a mini-train and track next to the railroad car that is fun to watch!

Oklahoma Space and Aviation Hall of Fame

The Oklahoma Space and Aviation Hall of Fame was neat! There were a bunch of airplanes in this space as well as artifacts and a digital kiosk with the name of inductees.

Mirrors & Science!

There are a couple of cool mirror exhibitions in this museum. This triangle mirror creates the optical illusion shown below! There is also a hall of mirrors path. I typically avoid those because I have run into the mirrors in the past LOL.

Destination Space Exhibition

I LOVED the space exhibition. There was so much to see and read in this space. I only took a few photos in this space. There are so many pieces of equipment to see!

International Gymnastics Hall of Fame

The International Gymnastics Hall of Fame was cool! In the center of the room was foam mats and things you could try tricks on. It’s a super cool area for the kiddos!

Bicycle History

This exhibition on bicycle history was fascinating! I wish I had more time to stop and read it all… The room next to this one had bicycles from the nineteenth century to present-day. It was interesting to see how the shape of the bicycle has changed over time.

Life-Size Light Bright!

As a kid, my parents got my sister and I light bright toys. These were probably the size of a laptop screen. You had to put the black paper on the screen and then put the colorful pegs in to make a design.

As soon as I saw this exhibit, I looked at my friend and said we have to try this. We worked together to make the flower picture and it was so fun! Best part of the whole trip!

Concluding Thoughts

The activities at this museum are fun! There are a ton of activities for kids and families, but my friend and I enjoyed walking around too.

I enjoyed reliving a piece of my childhood and seeing how things have changed over the years! I hope you enjoy it too.

Happy traveling! I’ll talk to ya soon! 🙂

TRAVEL TIP: This museum is located right next to the Oklahoma City Zoo so if you’re traveling a long distance you might plan to stop at both places!
